“Now I cannot get them out of the pool, they love swimming so much.”

Megan V. · Parent of 4 year old twins

Doctor of Physical Therapy

A clinical degree in how the human body moves, applied to a child learning to move through water.

Red Cross Certified

Trained and certified in water safety instruction, so the safety piece is never improvised.

10+ Years Teaching

Ten years of lessons means she has already met whatever your child is going to do in the water.

The method

Most lessons correct a stroke. Amanda corrects the body making it.

01

She reads the body, not just the stroke

Most instructors correct what a stroke looks like. Amanda trained for years in how a body actually produces movement, so when a child keeps sinking or keeps turning to one side she can tell you which muscle is not firing and work the drill that fixes it.

02

One child, one instructor, every lesson

Lessons are private and you keep the same instructor start to finish. Nobody is waiting on the wall for a turn, and no child has to rebuild trust with a new face halfway through learning something that scares them.

03

In your pool, on your schedule

She comes to you. Your child learns in the water they already swim in, which is the same water they are most likely to fall into, and you skip the drive, the locker room and the schedule that never fits.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Ten years in the water. A clinical doctorate in how bodies move.

Your instructor

Dr. Amanda Clarke, DPT

Amanda spent years studying how the human body produces movement, and how it compensates when something is not working. That is what a Doctor of Physical Therapy does. She also spent over a decade in the water teaching children, which is the part a degree does not give you.

A nervous four year old does not need a lecture on biomechanics. They need someone patient who already knows what is going wrong and can turn the fix into a game.

That practice has now moved to Morris County, teaching families in Morristown, Whippany, Parsippany and Denville.

From parents

Now I cannot get them out of the pool. That is the whole job.

We love Miss Amanda! My 4YO twins had never swam without floaties before starting swim lessons. Amanda was so patient and kind towards them while also encouraging them to try new things that initially scared them. Now I can't get them out of the pool, they love swimming so much. I highly recommend her!

Megan V.

Parent of 4 year old twins

Amanda was fantastic with our 5 year old and kept her motivated and entertained during her entire swim lesson. We would absolutely recommend her and will continue to have her give our daughter swim lessons as she's improved her swimming exponentially since working with Amanda.

Sid D.

Parent of a 5 year old

We highly recommend Amanda for swim lessons! She's so sweet and personable. My son started lessons with her right when he turned one and he's learned so many skills already. She's easy to communicate with and very knowledgeable.

Questions

The things parents ask first.

Where do the lessons happen?+

Depending on where you are in Morris County, Amanda comes to your pool or you meet at a community pool. Most families in Morristown, Whippany, Parsippany and Denville are taught at home.

Will my child have the same instructor every time?+

Yes, always. Trust is most of the work with a nervous swimmer, so the person in the water never changes on you.

How long is a lesson?+

Private lessons run 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Younger children usually do best at 30 or 45 minutes, because focus runs out well before energy does.

How often should my child have lessons?+

Amanda builds the schedule around your child's age and where they are starting from. Most families land on once a week, and children working through real fear often move faster twice a week.

What makes a Doctor of Physical Therapy different in the water?+

A DPT spends years studying how bodies produce movement and why they compensate. In a lesson that shows up as knowing why a child keeps sinking on one side, rather than only telling them to kick harder.
